This specific classification of depression disorders is one that is combined with both mania and unipolar depression. For this reason, there are a large number of patients and physicians alike that refer to this depression disorder as manic-depressive. Bipolar affective disorder is also a psychosomatic disorder that can be very severe. There are many times that the individual’s moods may seem to go through a cycle and can swing severely and quickly from the feelings of mania to the symptoms that are associated with unipolar depression.
This condition can have some or all of the same symptoms that are associated with unipolar depression, and some of the other symptoms that are commonly associated with the psychosomatic disorder that is known as bipolar affective disorder would include the following.
- Hyperactivity
- There can be a combination of both schizophrenia and paranoia
- Lack of, or altered judgment
- Grandiosity feelings that are false
- Overwhelming need to be talkative
- Engaging in squabbles that can quickly turn into physical altercations
Although unipolar depression is more often seen in patients, bipolar affective depression is a disorder that is much more serious.
