What Is An Antidepressant?

Antidepressant can be defined as medication that is used to change the mood of the person suffering from depression. They are the one to relieve people from their depression symptoms and make them feel normal. Antidepressants increase the activity of certain chemicals in our brain and these chemicals are called as neurotransmitters. Serotonin and noradrenalin are common chemicals that cause depression. Antidepressants are used in the following cases: 

1. If the person is suffering from severe anxiety and panic attacks.

2. If there are eating disorders.

3. If depression has rise to high level.

4. If the person is suffering from traumatic disorders. 

Loss in weight, facing problem while sleeping or excessive sleep, lack of energy in the body, is some signs of depression. If you feel any of the above mentioned symptoms for long time then antidepressant intake becomes necessary. Just as antidepressants are necessary for body to cure depression symptoms, they also have side effects. Loss of sleep, blurred vision and dry mouth are some of the side effects of excessive consumption of antidepressants. If you want to leave antidepressants drug then it is necessary that you leave them slowly because abrupt withdrawal from the drug will give rise to symptoms such as restlessness, fatigue, irritation and frustration.
