Rather than difference, anxiety and depression show more of similarities and sometimes the symptoms shown by both of them are so much similar that even the best doctors are not able to understand as what has affected the patient. Anxiety affected person can get depression symptom and depressed person can get anxiety. Loss of appetite, facing difficulty in concentrating on day to day works and sleep disturbance are some common problem faced by anxiety as well as depression sufferers.

But, there is one major difference between anxiety and depression looking at it; one can say whether the person is suffering from anxiety or depression. Profound sadness is major symptom of anxiety that distinguishes it from depression. Anxiety sufferers start crying suddenly which is not often experienced in depressed people. Anxiety sufferers have strong fear emotion and often get panic attacks and severe anxiety attacks. Anxiety affects the nervous system and is related to the body and mind of the affected person where as depression affects the feeling of the person.
