One of the most common types of depression that is also a subtype of major depression is known as atypical depression. One of the biggest differences between the symptoms that individuals experience with atypical depression and that of normal depression, is that they also respond positively to the environment around them, as they have the ability to enjoy themselves when their friends and family are around them, and they also show positive reactions to good experiences.
Another difference with atypical depression is that individuals with this disorder may also show some other symptoms, while they also show the regular symptoms that generally occur with depression. These symptoms would include an increased or stronger appetite that can cause a weight gain that often ends up being as much as 10 pounds or even more, they may feel as if their legs and arms are full of lead, in long-term situations, they can show to be very sensitive when they have gone through rejection in situations that involve their personal life, which can end up causing them to withdraw from work and other types of social related events
