Vitamins, a healthy way for treating depression

In many instances depression is caused due to vitamin deficiencies, in such cases supplements of vitamins can be a good alternative to chemical medications as a cure for depression. Vitamins that can be used for depression treatment are Vitamins B1, B3, B5, B6, B12, vitamins C etc.  Different vitamins have different effects on the brain and the body.

Vitamin B1 supplies glucose and blood sugar to the brain, this blood sugar acts as a working fuel for the brain without which the brain starts to function slowly and fatigues easily leading to depression. The absence of vitamin B3 causes slowness in the brain’s working, tiredness, anxiety and fatigue all these symptoms eventually lead to depression. Deficiency of vitamin B5 causes lack in formation of brain chemicals that prevent depression and anxiety.

Vitamin B6 helps in producing serotonin, which help combat mental anxiety and confusion. The lack of this vitamin increases the risk of depression. Vitamin B12 is responsible for red blood cells formation, it also enhances the oxygen flow to the brain, the deficiency of this vitamin causes dementia, irritability, confusion, paranoia etc. Vitamin C is a good source of energy which helps in cutting down stress which is a major cause for depression.
