Has there been an increase of depression in the United States?

There have been numerous research and studies that have been conducted concerning depression and the symptoms that it can cause, and the number of individuals throughout the United States that suffer from this frustrating condition. Recent research and studies that have been performed have shown that depression and the symptoms associated with this disorder hold the number one spot for psychological disorders that are suffered by people in the western world.

Although almost every single person during some time in their lifetime will experience a depressing situation or event, there are as many as 20 percent of all people around the world who will actually suffer from the condition of depression. This rise of this condition has been so great that 10 times more people today suffer from depression than those that suffered from it in 1945.
