What is Kava and can it relieve the symptoms of depression?

Kava is an herb that is also known as Kava-Kava, and is an extract that is taken from the roots of Piper methysticum, which is a Polynesian plant. There are a large number of individuals that live in the South Pacific who take advantage of the effects that this herb produces that would include the affects it has for being a stimulant, an aphrodisiac, and a sedative.

There have been several controlled trials that have been performed that shows Kava has the ability to reduce the amount of anxiety that individuals who are suffering from anxiety will often experience. Kava is also a great herb that can reduce the severity of stress a person feels, and it can lower the amount of time it takes for a person to fall asleep, and they will also receive much better sleep after they have fallen asleep.

There are some side effects that you should be aware of, and some of them would include gastric disturbance, dizziness, diarrhea, dry mouth, and dizziness. It is best to speak with your physician about Kava and other herbs before deciding the treatment for depression that is right for you.
