Do holiday seasons have anything to do with depression?

The holiday season is a time of the year that most people experience a great deal of joy. There are many individuals and families who take the opportunity that has been given to them to spend time with one another. They are able to relish in the company of their close friends and family members who they dearly love. However, for some people this is not the picture that is painted for them.

Instead of having a grand time, there are numerous people who spend this time of the year in a depression over the holiday season, and it is often experienced for a variety of different reasons. There are some that go through the symptoms of depression because their children have grown up, moved away from home, and spend the holidays with their own families.

For others, holiday depression can be caused from a recent job loss, making it hard for them to buy the usual gifts for those they love. For others still, holiday depression can hit them hard if they have recently gone through a divorce or a separation from their partner, causing them to spend the holiday season alone.
