Depression – can it be serious?

There are numerous people who are staring face to face into the depths of depression. This condition is one that affects many people, no matter what age, and no matter where they live. Depression comes in several forms and can range from mild forms, to others that are extremely serious, and all areas in between.

Some forms of depression only affect an individual during times in their lives that may feel very traumatic to them, such as when they have lost their job, when a separation or a divorce has occurred, or when they have lost a friend or a close family member to death or serious illness.

There are some people who may experience the symptoms of depression on a continuous basis, but then they are also able to engage in cheerful activities with others and can enjoy having a good time. In serious cases, however, there are numerous individuals who suffer from depression no matter what type of situation that they may be in. They are not able to cheer up and feel happy during social or family events, they generally become very withdrawn, and they find it hard to pull themselves out of the pits of depression.
