Paroxetine CR is like other types of medications that have side effects associated with their use and there are some common side effects with Paroxetine CR. The mild side effects that usually decrease once the body is used to the medication are dry mouth, dizziness, headache, constipation and temor.
There can be more severe side effects associated with Paroxetine CR and these can be nausea, vomiting, rapid heart rate, feeling of fainting and confusion. When the side effects of this antibiotic are severe the physician should be contacted immediately and in some cases immediate medical attention is needed.
There are also drug interactions that can occur with Paroxetine CR if it is used in conjunction with any monoamine oxidase inhibitor. Combinations of these medications can have severe side effects, such as high blood pressure, tremor, confusion, hyperactivity, coma and death. Taken in high dosages by the elderly or patients with liver or kidney disease Paroxetine CR can become toxic and this can be a dangerous reaction.
Paroxetine CR when combined with certain other medications or herbals can also have similar side effects as when combined with a MAOI class drug. These other medications can include tryptophan, meperidene (Demerol), tramodol or Ultram and St. John’s Wort.
