What is teenage depression?

Teenage depression is unfortunately a well-known category of depression that afflicts as many as 1 out of every 8 teenagers every single year. This type of depression ends up affecting individuals that should instead be enjoying an awesome time that is normally supposed to occur during the teenage years, and it can happen in any area all around the entire world.

One of the most tragic facts about teenage depression is that there are as many as 70 percent of the teens that experience the symptoms that are associated with teenage depression that does not receive any type of treatment to help them find relief from the symptoms of depression that they are going through. Teenagers that have experienced such problems as abuse, neglect, suffer from obesity, a chronic injury or illness, suffer from low self-esteem, and those that have experienced overwhelming situations in their life have a higher risk of facing the symptoms of teenage depression.

Another surprising fact for some individuals is the fact that teenage depression is two times more likely to occur in the girls that are in their teenage years, than it is in teen boys.
